Olga's Photo Journal: Birthday Celebrations

We celebrated Angie's birthday last night. We had homemade pizza, a cake, a scavenger hunt (to find her presents), a movie, and a surprise guest. It was pretty fun!

Hopefully she enjoyed it too :D

As the title of the book implies, Snodgrass takes a very in-depth look at the parables. I appreciate his take on many of the parables and find his sections on interpretation and adaptation to be quite a helpful starting point.

Schottroff has a very interesting take on the parables. Although I disagreed with her on many points it was a thought-provoking read.

If you enjoy the literary criticism form of interpretation you may enjoy this book. It has been very influential and is therefore an important read. However, I found it to neglect too much of the actual text.

In this commentary Bechtel gives an engaging introduction to the Book of Esther. It's very accessible and Bechtel's delight in the text comes out in her writing.
