French Toast

We discovered a random bag of stale bread on our counter, and were unsure of whose it was, so we made french toast this morning.

Interview

One of the wonderful things about the blogsphere is the way networks and interconnections form spontaneously. To help us all to get to know one another, bloggers have been interviewing one another. My interview follows; then it is my turn to interview any other bloggers who would like to be interviewed by me :D
Let me know if you would like to be interviewed by me; the rules are at the bottom of this post. The questions will be unique for each interview.

I was interviewed by Anja Noordam (who happens to be my mom :D). Like me, she also keeps a photo journal (http://anja-photojournal.blogspot.com/). Keeping a photo journal is her way of keeping in touch with family and friends in far-off places. Most of our family lives in the Netherlands, so it's nice for them to see what's going on here in Canada. It's also nice for me to see what's going on at home when I'm at school!

Q #1. What brings a smile to your face?

A. Spending time with people I love, and doing fun things :D

Q #2. What do you value in your friendships?

A. Honesty, trust, openness... along with many other things. I must say that I have really awesome friends. I love that we can just hang out together, even if we don't do much, and have a really great time. It's just nice to be together.

Q #3. You say you are a "student for life." What would you like to study for fun, and who would you choose as your teacher?

A. I would love to learn more about the land of the Bible, and learn to see the biblical pictures better. As for a teacher, I would find it wonderful if I could study under someone who has studied in a more eastern context (soemone like Ben Alpert or Ray vander Laan). My other favourite teacher will probably always be my Mom!

Q #4. Who do you connect with through Blogging?

A. My purpose for blogging is similar to my Mom's. I also want to connect with my family that's far away in Holland and friends in other far-off places. I began blogging while I was in Holland for a semester, to stay in touch with family and friends in Canada. I don't know exactly who all looks at my blog (I'd love to hear :D), but I have it so people can see a bit of what I'm up to.

Q #5. You've been adding older pictures to your Facebook pages. What interests you in family history?

A. Family is important. It's a part of who you are. It is a part of my story. I think that everyone needs to find out where they fit into their own story. To do that we need to look at the past - to family history. But, it can go even further than that. The Bible is also our story, and we need to figure out where we fit in that story as well. Here, as well, we need to learn what the story is before we can find our place in it.
I also just love looking at old pictures. I've always been interested in things of the past - not only family history. I've always wished there was a way to travel to past times just to see what it was like for a day.

Here are the instructions if you wish to be interviewed by me:
1. Leave me a comment saying, "Interview me".
2. I will respond by e-mailing you five questions (I get to pick the questions)
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions.
I will post a list of those who have agreed to an interview so everyone can follow along. Now it's my turn to interview any other bloggers who would like to be interviewed by me. :-) I'm going to keep a list up here of the names and blogs of every brave soul who volunteers, so we all can follow along. Please check out their blogs to see the wonderful things they have created!

Fiddler on the Roof

Currently "Fiddler on the Roof" is playing at our school. I went to it this afternoon with my parents, and roommate Audrey. The cast and crew did a marvelous job pulling off the performance!
