Mom and I went on a tour of robot barns in Québec.
This barn was built specifically for robots.

Some barns had nice vantage points to take pictures.

This farmer had mostly Jerseys.
They're a bit smaller, but still work in the robot.

This was a tie-stall conversion.

Some farmers had to be creative in order to fit a robot in their old barn. This retrofitted barn had the robot in the old parlour.
You can still see part of the milking pit.

This farm had a milk silo (instead of a milk tank).
This is allowed in Québec, but not in Ontario.

This farm had the barn in one place, and the milkhouse in another.
The big metal tube running from one barn
to the next is the milk line.

This type of curtain was very popular in all the barns we saw.
It is filled with air and makes the barns feel a bit warmer.

These calves were trained to sleep in stalls at a very young age.
Apparently, it works very well.

Some farmers had other Lely products as well.
Shown here is the Lely Calm, a calf feeder.

This is the Lely Juno. It pushes in feed.

Two of the barns we visited had Kosher milk.
All in all, it was a very interesting trip. We definitely became
a bit more knowledgeable about robot barns!
