Worship Project

I did a painting for one of my worship classes.
I hadn't painted in several years,
so it was an interesting challenge,
but also a whole lot of fun!

My project had to do with Early Christian worship and the Triduum (Good Friday to Easter). I wanted to portray practices important to the Early church during these three days. This is the time of year when Jesus' death and resurrection are celebrated. It was also a time when those joining the church would be baptized. With the help of some other art, this is what I came up with.

A Week before Tulip Time

Only one more week until Tulip Time and the tulips are almost ready to bloom. With this week's warm and sunny forecast
I have hope they will be quite beautiful shortly.

Baby Shower

We celebrated the upcoming birth of
Baby Lampen on Saturday.

We had a fun Word Scramble. I missed three.

There were lots of people who came.

Jeff & Chelsea are the Resident Directors of the
Hope Neighbor's Community.
Some of the girls a part of it had a lot of fun with their gift,
making their own onesie designs.
Do you get this one?

Jeff & Chelsea really enjoy The Lord of the Rings.
Two friends made this art piece for them.

We were all encouraged to bring along a blessing
for Baby Lampen and Jeff & Chelsea.

Jeff's sister shared a beautiful (and fun) blessing.

Girod Research Chair Inauguration

This evening Dr. Billings was inaugurated into a new research chair.
He gave a fantastic paper.

Beforehand we enjoyed a nice dinner.
We dubbed our table the "kids table".

2 Kings 8:7-15

As part of our Old Testament Narratives class we've been performing
pieces of Scripture. This is my group's performance of 2 Kings 8:7-15.

This is a performance of a dark and obscure story tucked in the heart of the Elisha cycle in 2 Kings. The beating heart of the passage is the dramatic moment when, apparently overwhelmed by the revelation of what will befall Israel at the hand of Haza'el, Elisha weeps.

The Smell of Easter

We walked into the sanctuary and Stephen said it smelled like Easter.

On Maundy Thursday we drew pictures depicting
the Easter Story. Sunday morning they were displayed
in the sanctuary.
